HOPE
Jesus, hope of the world
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead (1 Peter 1:3)
Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life (Proverbs 13:12)
THINK
- Can you remember a time when you felt hopeless?
- How did it make you feel? In the Bible, this is described as making our heart sick.
Now imagine how it feels to experience the absolute opposite; new birth into a living hope. Jesus is the only one who can give us this.
- How does it feel to look ahead with hope?
- How can you reflect the hope of Jesus to others this Christmas?
PRAY
God of Hope, lift my eyes to you. Jesus, give me confidence in your living hope. Spirit of hope, heal my heart. Help me know and reflect your hope this Christmas.
ACT
This Advent, notice the times people express feeling hopeless. In those moments, silently ask Jesus to give confidence in Him as their living hope. Tell them that you are praying for them to know the hope of Jesus this Christmas.
