Thy Kingdom Come

Thy Kingdom Come is a global prayer movement that started in May 2016 which invites Christians around the world to pray from Ascension to Pentecost for more people to come to know Jesus.  In 2019 Christians from 172 countries took part in praying ‘Come Holy Spirit’, so that friends and family, neighbours and colleagues might come to faith in Jesus Christ.

Whilst an astonishing 92% of people said they were praying for family and friends to come to faith in Jesus, and 40% of those taking part in 2019 did so for the first time, we recognise there is much more we can do together to help Thy Kingdom Come be fully in the lifeblood of the Church.

During the 11 days of Thy Kingdom Come, starting on Ascension Day (21st May) until Pentecost (31st May), it is hoped that everyone who takes part will:

  • Deepen their own relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Pray for 5 friends or family to come to faith in Jesus
  • Pray for the empowerment of the Spirit that we would be effective in our witness

Join in prayers with thousands of our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ across the world during these 11 days for more information click below:

Praying with the Bishop of Chichester

In the nine days of prayer that form a novena between Ascension Day and Pentecost, (Friday 22 to Saturday 30 May) he Bishop of Chichester is welcome anyone to join him in prayer each day at 12.00 noon, for around 15 minutes, in a live streaming of intercession, worship, and silence from the Bishop’s chapel, in Chichester.

He will be praying for all the parishes in the diocese, and on Monday 25th May our parish and deanery will be prayed for.  In addition to a reading of scripture and a list of the people we are praying for, there will be 5 minutes of shared silent prayer, asking God to hear us, to deliver us from this present evil, to use us for his glory and to bring us into the fullness of his kingdom in the perfection of heaven.

Joining details will be on the diocesan website.
